PVC Rolling Blinds
Waterproof roll-down blinds for balconies — stop driving rain and low sun without losing the light.

Bamboo chicks handle sun well but they soak, sag and eventually rot. PVC rolling blinds do the same job and shrug off the monsoon, which on an exposed west or south balcony is the difference between replacing them every three years and forgetting about them.
The sheet is a heavy-gauge PVC, available clear, tinted or opaque. Clear is the usual choice on a balcony you actually sit on — it stops the rain blowing in while leaving the view and the daylight intact, so the balcony stays usable through the monsoon instead of being written off for three months.
They roll up flush to the soffit on a side cord or a pulley, and fit alongside a safety net without interfering with it.

PVC Rolling Blinds — common questions
PVC or bamboo?
Bamboo looks warmer and costs less. PVC survives the monsoon. If the balcony is exposed to driving rain, PVC is the one that is still there in five years.
What material are the nets made from?
Knotted high-density polyethylene, UV stabilised. HDPE is chemically inert, waterproof and does not degrade in sunlight the way untreated polypropylene does. Nets are tensioned on a stainless steel wire frame using screw pins, turnbuckles and hogging staples, so the installation stays tight rather than sagging after the first season.
How much does it cost?
Pricing starts from a base rate per square foot and varies by product — invisible grills cost several times more than netting. Use the estimate calculator for an approximate figure, then book a free site visit for an exact written quotation. Measurements taken over the phone are almost always wrong.
How long will the installation last?
Five years is typical for HDPE netting in direct sun, longer on sheltered elevations. Invisible grills last considerably longer — the stainless cable is the limiting component and it does not corrode. Sun exposure is what ages netting, not rain.
Can a bird cut through the net with its beak?
No. HDPE at the gauge we use cannot be cut by a pigeon or crow. The failure mode for bird netting is never the mesh — it is a gap left at the perimeter, which is why edge sealing is the part of the job that actually matters.
